Halloween and Thanksgiving

I'm way behind but anyway this was our halloween! Hallie was the first to ring the bell and the last to leave, she figured out if she waited there long enough she'd get more. Blake screamed and cried until the first house, then he realized that when you hold your bucket and go to the door they give you candy. Then you couldn't get the bag away from him.

This was the day before Halloween

we went to Gardner Village to
see all the witches. We had a lot
of fun!

Ryan finally got a church calling he does mutual for the 14-15 year old boys which includes weekly mutual and 1 major all day event/or campout once a month. CRAZY!

Not much more to report, although I did feel the baby move for sure for the first time a few days ago!

I hope everyone's holidays have been great! We all need to get together and mingle before everyone's schedules get too crazy! So I was thinking maybe a "Party" except not really cuz those who know me know I'm not capable of such things. But if people were to come to my house one night it might be fun! I was thinking December 10-15 exept Tuesday. Let me know if its even possible for anybody.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

It has been forever since I've written anything on here and I thought it would be a great time to tell you all that I'm thankful for you!!

Life is good - Jeff and I are living in Provo while he finishes up his bachelor's degree in International Relations. He's in the process of applying to grad schools for an MPA. The schools are all over the country but I'm hoping for BYU or the U or a school in California. We'll find out next spring and I'm excited. I'm working at an accounting firm in Orem. I am also taking the GRE because I really want to go back to school, but I'm not applying anywhere yet. I'm going to wait until we figure out where we'll be and then maybe start some kind of program in the next couple of years.

I don't have much else to say other than have a fabulous Thanksgiving!! Eat lots!

Speaking for Karen and myself. . . ."Go UTES!"

Hi!!

Hello everyone! So, 2 weeks ago I got laid off from my job! I worked for a mortgage lender and so if you have watched the news at all you know that the housing industry isn't doing so hot these days. Anyways, if anyone knows of any good stay at home jobs, let me know! I want something that I can do a few hours a day from home when the baby is born. I know everyone is thinking of Jet Blue, but they require your house to be silent. Well, that won't work once the baby is born. So, maybe something that is more of a data entry job or something. Anyways, if you know of anything, send it this way. I would also consider a part time job that is outside of the home for the next 2-3 months. I hope everyone is doing well. Love you lots!

Kids Stuff - Clothes, Toys, Bedding - Giant Sale!

My sister lives in Sandy. There is a lady in her ward that used to own a store called "Kid to Kid" in the Sandy Mall. For those of you who haven't heard of this store, it contains a conglomeration of kids merchandise, ranging from clothes to bedding to furniture to toys and so forth. There are both new and used items. The lady is really trying to get rid of her stuff and has been holding multiple sales at her home. I went yesterday with my sister (by pre-arranged appointment) and found TONS of cute clothes for Colt for super cheap. I mostly paid $0.50 or $1.00 for each item, but a couple things were $4.00, and I got a nice coat and snowsuit each for under $10.00. Anyway, the lady is having another public sale this Saturday if you're interested! There is SO MUCH stuff -- it is unbelievable. Give yourself some serious time to sift. And make sure to check the condition of any used items you want to buy.

The address is 10834 S. Whirlaway Lane in Sandy. HERE is a map link. If you're coming from I-15, take the 10600 South exit and head east. After you reach 1300 East, continue straight but watch for the first road on your right called Bay Meadows. Turn there, then turn at your first left called Churchill Downs. That road bends and becomes Whirlaway, and the house is on your right. I'm pretty sure the sale starts at 8:00 a.m. and will last most of the day, probably till 3:00 p.m. The lady will only accept cash.

Bear BEWARE

Hello Friends,

Here's my HaLLoWeeN!

We were The 3 Bears. Colt is the cutest thing in the world. I mean it; just check out this next pic...

And he is so funny, too! We've begun the adventures of rice cereal and squash. It's a hoot.

Well, in other news, I guess I'll finally tell you all that Adam and I are moving to Wyoming. We feel really strongly that we need to be in Star Valley. It's tough, though, to leave my family and friends. Since Adam graduates in December, we'll take off anytime between January and April, depending on when he starts working. Please keep in touch with me! I will be so sad if you don't because I just love you girls. You are the greatest friends.

Happy Halloween!

I finally have something fun to write about! My brother got home from his mission Oct. 12th! I haven't seen him for over 3 years because I came home from my mission 5 months after he left. The picture on top has the whole Frandsen family together again, plus 2 nieces and a nephew.

The bottom pictures are at the Coles' family Halloween party! (I hope you don't mind Kar!) Halloween is Kris and Karlie's favorite holiday, so I'm sure I'll have fun pictures to share every year. Karlie and Scott won the costume contest. Marn made all kinds of spooky food:) We played some fun Halloween games.

Everything is going well with Kris and I. I feel like everything's the same old though. We're both still going to school and working. I graduate in the Spring. That's about all. I hope you all had a fun Halloween.

Monumental Moment

So I hope you guys aren't sick of me posting, but I had an interesting experience today! I was going to a wedding tonight with another couple tonight. (Jake is in Utah, so he couldn't come!) So I met Joe (the husband) at the mall so we could go pick up his wife from work. It was about 70 out and gorgeous and I was feeling great today! Hooray! But I had a lot of phone calls to make for my 3rd church calling that I just got! (want more info... check out my blog!) Anyway, so I was calling all the young women and the car was kind of warm, so I put the air directly on me. I started to feel a little sick, so I leaned my seat back a little in hope of feeling better. The traffic was awful, a LOT of stop and go and that motion was definitely NOT helping. I apologized to Joe because I wasn't feeling good.. then proceeded to tell him I was pregnant in hopes he would then kind of understand. At this point I'm not feeling good at all! Jake called and was talking to me and I was not really responsive and asked if I could call him back. He of course said sure. Joe, knowing I wasn't feeling well, said, "If you need it, we've got doggy bags for Cady." (their dog!) I immediately asked for one and TOTALLY THREW UP in his car! Talk about embarrassing! Luckily I had the doggy bag and after that I felt wonderful! But.... ugh! It was awful! Sorry if this is TMI!!!

BABY HAWKINS MAY 11th 2008

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to let you all know that I'm pregnant! I'm almost 11 weeks along, but I wanted you all to hear from me instead of crazy rumors my mom started at church on Sunday! :) I'm super excited, and have been feeling pretty good for the most part. I've had a few tough weeks, but nothing to complain about! I am already showing, it's crazy! Anyway, YEAH!!!

Just thought I would share this cute photo with everyone. I ditched my friends during half time to go up and say hi to Karen and Bryce. Aren't we cute! Go Utes! (Karen I must say this is quite picturesque with the stadium to the left of us. Just US!)

Molly Nicole Pendleton

Here she is! 2 days old.

Hi everyone! Molly was born Sunday, October 7th at 11:07 am on her due date (this happens only 3-4% on average in the US!). She is 7 pounds 6 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. Saturday night at 10:45 pm my water broke as I was about to pick Justin up from work. He got a ride home and my water just slowly broke for a couple of hours. Contractions started at about 2 am and I waited for them to get closer. We went to the hospital at 5 am. After 4 tries I finally got an IV in my arm and I got an epidural at about 8 am (we think, can't quite remember the time at that point!). At about 9 am I was at a 5 and completely thinned out. At 10 am my nurse told me I was ready to push! So I pushed for an hour and Molly arrived! I had a small episiotomy since my doctor said I would probably tear, but other than that, it was pretty smooth.

I was in the hospital for 2 nights and I came home this morning at 11. I am feeling pretty well, obviously just sore, but not too bad. Justin is home with me during the week (we're so glad he isn't in class this semester!) and my mom has come and helped (and will probably come several more times) and my mother-in-law is coming this weekend. (My in-laws left the morning after to get back home for work)
She is a pretty good baby. We think she's had some acid reflux or gas in the past couple days where she'll just cry and you can't really soothe her, so that's frustrating! But that's just how it goes sometimes! Tomorrow we're going to get some drops to help. She nurses pretty well also, but she likes to fall asleep! I'm sure as the days go on she'll be able to stay awake better! But for now we always have to poke and prod her to remember that she's supposed to be eating! :)

You'll have to vote and let us know who you think she looks like. My mom says she looks similar to how I looked when I was a baby. My brother and his wife think she's a mix of both...so who knows! But we sure think she's pretty cute and we love her so much!

Don't you love all of that hair?

Grandparents for the first time!

So precious!

Our happy little family! (taken right after she was born)

Just me again!

I had to show you all a picture of my new Harp. I just love it. I started lessons again and I have a recital in November, and I am playing in a Harp ensemble with 8 other harpists in December. That is it I won't post any more pics for a while.

Disneyland in October

Last week my mom, sister and her two girls and I decided to go to Disneyland. Just a last minute thing. It was so fun! We flew to Cali. on Wednesday, went to Disneyland Thursday, when shopping Friday and came back Saturday. It was a quick trip but nice to get away. Disneyland was all decorated for Halloween. We spent the day in Disneyland then that night we had tickets to go to California Adventure and go Trick-or-Treating. My niece Addie loved it. She was Snow White as you can see from all of the Pictures. I have never stood in so many lines to meet princesses, but Addie had to meet them. If any of you get the chance go to Disneyland in October you should definitely go.

Sorry the pictures are all crazy I am still trying to fugure out how to do this.

I have real stuff to share this time.

Adam and I continue to experience the joys of Colt's development. He has found his face. It started with his ear, and now he slaps his hand against his forehead and cheeks and rubs around. He also loves to hang on to his toes and to reach for anything in sight. He talks more and more, mostly by "ahhhh"-ing for long stretches. It is hilarious!! And then my favorite: When I'm holding him (facing outward) on my lap and talk or kiss his head, he twists around to look up at me. Once he sees me, he breaks out into a huge grin. Oh, he's cute!! Yesterday a friend of ours said while holding Colt, "You are a high-maintenance baby. You can tell that your mama stays at home and plays with you all day." Well, such is the case. I guess now you are all forewarned that Colt likes attention and may fuss if you don't play while holding him!

BELLY TIME.

WHAT CAN I SAY? HE'S OFFICIALLY A COUGAR THUG.

MAN, HOW HE LOVES THOSE FEET!

COLT AND MOM AT A BABY SHOWER IN ST. GEORGE.

And a story to conclude:
When you hang out with other mothers and their children, it is necessary to prepare for adventures. I went to the gardens at Thanksgiving Point with my mom, Colt, my sister and her two kids, and my sister's two friends who each had two kids... So 5 adults and 7 kids. It was beautiful and peaceful, and I loved the walk and the secret garden (which looks very much like the one in the movie). However, our day consisted of a near-miss from a golf ball, a potty break in the bushes for one of the three-year-olds (at this age all requests for a bathroom must be immediate and taken very seriously), a 45-minute wait for lunch at the restaurant, another 30 minutes to get our food once seated (because there were only two servers during the lunch rush!), Cru wanting to climb on everything, Adi being given fermented apple juice, Dillon not wanting to nurse and then crying, Cru squeezing his flourescent green gogurt all over the white linen tablecloth and the floor and his mom's clothes, Adi writing with pen all over the white linen tablecloth, Hayden having to go to the bathroom, then Adi having to go to the bathroom, then Colt crying. Even though we mothers were feeling quite frazzled, it didn't take long before we were all laughing hard about the situation and running out the door to get home. What a colorful day!

Summer 2007

Hi guys,
It's been awhile since I've posted. We're home from our summer adventures and back to real life. I'm working as a hydrologist intern at the National Weather Service, and Jared is working on his MBA at Westminster and getting a business started. He travels to China next month with his school, but I am home to stay for awhile.

I thought I'd post a few photo highlights of our trips to Europe and Southeast Asia this summer. Sorry if this is a really long post, but I figure I haven't posted in so long, I've earned it!! (: (:

We began our adventure in Europe with my family. We visited Italy, Switzerland, France, and Austria. We then flew home for a week, and then went back to Southeast Asia, where we traveled through Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Here are some pictures:

Us at the Grand Canal in Venice
Bayeux, France (did I spell that right Christine?)
Hiking in Switzerland
Riding scooters down a mountain in Austria
Hiking through a rice paddy in northern Thailand
Arc d'Triomphe........Laos??? The US gave concrete to Laos to build an airport, but instead built this monument. Laos was occupied by the French for many years, and the influence is still obvious.

Outside of Angkor Wat, Cambodia. One of the most spectacular things I have ever seen.
Inside the CuChi tunnels in southern Vietnam. The Vietcong spend the whole duration of the Vietnam war living and fighting from these tunnels. And they weren't even this big! They made this one bigger for tourists to walk through. Crazy!!!!Northern and Southern Vietnam still feel like 2 different countries. Saigon, in the south, has 10 million people driving 4 million scooters. Hanoi, above, is the capitol of the north and is clean and quiet. We are standing in the center of the city, which is a huge lake! The city has a midnight curfew. At 12, police drive around with horns making everybody go inside. It was so wierd!!We ended our trip relaxing in Southern Thailand. It was so nice!!! Jared's sister, Alisa, was along for the adventure
climbing above the ocean in southern Thailand
And last, but not least, the wonderful, sanitary, toilets of Southeast Asia. By the end of the trip, we were thrilled if a toilet had toilet paper available. If there was soap and water, we were truly ecstatic!

So, I hope I haven't bored you all with our pictures. We don't have our own blog yet, but I am working on writing us a website, hosenfelds.com, so hopefully that will be up soon!!

I hope that everybody is doing well!! I love reading about everybody's lives, so keep posting!!

Big Belly

I'm just going to vent for a few seconds here...so if you don't want to hear it, don't read this!! Ha ha! I just have to say that with two weeks away from my big day (or baby's big day I guess) I am about to the point where I am a little tired of the belly comments!! It's totally fine from a friend or family members, but from random people or people at work who see me every day, it's getting to be OLD!

For example, yesterday this girl at my work (who makes a comment about my belly pretty much every time she sees me) says, "Your shirts are getting tighter and tighter with your cute belly!!" I'm sorry, I know that is supposed to be a compliment (?) but seriously! I am completely aware of it, no need to bring it up when you tell me EVERY day!! (By the way, my response to her was I looked at her and just laughed. Then I said thanks, very sarcastically! I know, I'm such a brat...it was a bad moment for me, but really she comments on it at least twice a day and I wanted her to know my true feelings...hopefully she got it!)

The thing is, I know people are trying to be nice and maybe they really do think I look cute, but I'm just kind of done with it! I'm sure those of you who have kids know what I'm talking about and maybe it's just because I'm almost to the point where I'm totally done with this pregnancy!

In conclusion, you can comment about my belly if you see me in the next two weeks...you are all friends, so it's different. And if I've ever commented to you about your pregnant belly and you wanted to slap me, I can now say that I am very sorry and I think I am more aware of comments to say or not to say to any pregnant woman from now on!! :) Thanks for letting me vent!!

Question!

I was wondering if anyone had any contact info for Megan Fairchild. I have tried to email her a couple times a year for like the last three years and I never get a response. So either she has a new e-mail address, or she just does not want to stay in touch with me. If anyone knows anything please let me know. Thanks!

Jane

My HOUSE

So my front door was finally painted and I finally remembered to take my camera when we went to clean (again) last night. So here it is...red door and all!!! I was really nervous about the red door at first, but I think it looks really good...so I was very happy about that! We are getting our final inspection today and then we can see if we can move in this weekend. If we don't pass we'll have to wait until we can get everything done that we need to! So I'll send another update once we are all moved in and stuff! But here's the latest of what I've been up to the past 6 months or so!!!!! :)

I am finally going to join the blogging world!

I am going to try this out! I did not realize that this was the same kind of thing that I set up for Stu and I in June, until I looked at Christine's web site and saw Hillcrest friends as one of her little favorites. There, that is the story. I have spent the last two hours trying to catch up on everyones lives. I did not realize how many people have houses. I want one! My favorite blog was Nicoles about Josh Groban. Yes, the concert was amazing, and I did get to meet him. That was pretty exciting. I also love all the pictures. Everyones kids are soooooo cute. It makes me want one, but I don't have time for that right now.
The only thing new in my life is that I got a Pedal harp. That the kind of harp that you see in like the symphony or something. It lives at the Curtis's because I don't have room in my apartment, so I go there a lot to play it.
Other than that I am just going to school, doing clinicals and working. I only have 8 more months until I am done with the Radiology technologist program. Yahoo!
That is it! Sorry it took so long.

P.S. Stu and I have one of these Blogspots. The address is stuartandjane.blogspot.com I would not recommend visiting it, because I don't update it, (suprise, suprise) but I just thought I would let you all know.

It's a GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had our ultrasound yesterday and we are having a little girl!!! It was so neat to finally see this little thing that is living inside of me. Her little hands and feet are so cute. The tech said that everything looks really good and she looks really healthy. That is always good to hear. We plan on naming her Haylee Laree Bird. (Laree is my grandma's name). Anyways, we are very excited for February to roll around. Good luck to everyone else who is expecting.

Layers no longer

So I'm sad to say that I resigned as a distributor for Layers :( It was a tough decision, but I feel it is best. Primarily I'm stopping because for all the work that I put in (which honestly isn't that much, but it's enough!), I didn't feel like the profit was quite worth it. The way it works is that with each new line that comes out, you pay for the sample line up front and then you have to make the money back through parties. So at the end of the season, you are trying to get rid of samples and hope that you've made enough commission to cover your sample line purchase. So when you only have a few parties a month, sometimes that can be hard and you're just happy if you come out even!! Plus with the baby coming, I will have more limited time (mostly in the beginning) and money!! I still love Layers and I will continue to buy their stuff, I just won't be in charge of selling it and worrying about if I'm going to come out even after the season ends!

I just barely sent my letter in, but I can tell you that their new fall line will be out October 1st. So if you are a Layers fan and have been waiting to know when they will release their fall line, that's when! I have seen their fall classic tee colors and a cute turtleneck so far and I think this week I will get a pdf version of the fall catalog. So for now I will have some info on the fall line, but soon I will be cut off! If you're interested in seeing the pdf catalog, let me know and I believe I can email it to you once I get it!

GO UTES

For those that don't look at my blog I had to write this for ALL to see! I kind of wanted to brag to the BYU fans too!!! HA! I'm mean I know but I have to be proud of my Utes for beating UCLA when BYU couldn't handle the task (and I was happy to see BYU lose to Tulsa this weekend...not that I don't like BYU, I just wanted them to have the same record that the U has to keep things even)! Now I just hope that the U can keep this momentum up long enough to beat BYU on Thanksgiving weekend! :) We'll be at that game cheering as loud as we can!

Volleyball

Hey guys I was just wondering if anyone wanted to play sand volleyball on saturday night. I know there are football games but we will do it after for the mens sanity! If you want to play just let me know so that I can see if there will be enough people. We do have lights so it is ok if we play a little later in the evening. Let me know what you think
Kati

I NEED a Maid....

So last night Bryce and I had to de-dust our house! We are doing our own cleaning to try and save some money...so last night cleaning is what we did! We had to scrub out tubs, counter tops, sinks, etc. We had to wipe down ALL walls, ceilings, etc. We had to vacuum the floor, then sweep it, then vacuum again to get as much dust out as we could! I still think there is a layer of dust in that thing! What I realized last night though is that I have to clean that house now. I mean it's one thing to clean a house the size of an apartment...that's super easy! But when you have an actual HOUSE you live in...it ain't easy! So if anyone wants to come clean my house for me (no pay is my preference :) ) then you are more than welcome to!!!! We are getting carpet today. I don't know how long that takes but hopefully it goes quick! I believe we are trying to get our final inspection done next Monday and if we pass we can move in next weekend! CRAZY! Hopefully it all works out though because I'm ready to be in something I've been working on for about 9 months now. I don't have any new pictures. Every time we go over there I forget my camera. I guess I'll just wait until it's done though. That stupid front door still isn't painted and I'm still waiting to see how my color will match the rest of my house. My door will be red...so let's hope it looks good! Anyways... (oh...and I really don't need a maid...I promise I'm not that lazy, but it will take much more time than what I'm used to)

Just Another Pic

Well, I don't feel like I have much to say... Things have been hectic for us lately, but there is not a lot to share! Adam has started his last semester at BYU. Colt can rollover once in a while, and he is really learning to reach for things. We had a fun holiday weekend enjoying a pool party, BBQ, and football game. Now that Adam travels to Provo for class, Colt and I have more time on our hands to just hang. Give us a call if you're bored! We like our new place and think we'll be here till next summer or fall.

That's about it! I hope to see a bunch of you at the reunion. Here is the latest picture of Colt that I will be using on his baby announcements. (Yes, I'm still planning to send out announcements now that he's almost 4 months old! Is that tacky or what?! They're only going out to family, though, so don't be bummed when you don't get one.)

Thursday, August 30, 2007

One 3 year old, one 2 year old, and two 15 month old kids. We watched his sisters kids for a week while they were in Hawaii.

Shelby and Blake sharing just like we tell them to. This first picture is "The Picking of the Booger" and the next picture is "The Passing of the Booger" It was great!

This is Hallie and Tyler thankfully they
only shared their toys.
So you know how when kids get really upset they scream so hard that it takes them a while before they breathe again. Well Shelby takes it one step further and decides to turn blue, get all stiff, have her eyes roll back in her head, go limp, pass out, and then she decides to breathe again. All the while I'm freaking out because somebody else's kid is not breathing in my arms. All of this lasted for about a minute and a half then the ambulence, cop car, and a fire truck show up, and of course she's fine by then. This was probably the scariest moment so far. My heart still hurts when I think about it. Apparently she is one of the 10% of kids who do this, they eventually grow out of it. Her mom said she use to do it everyday for about a month and thought she was over it. I know better!
Anyway on the up side I'm pregnant! Yea! I'm due April 20 and since we have one of each, if I can do it, we might make it a surprise!
I'm glad everyone's doing great!

Josh Groban

Last night I went with my mom and sisters to the Josh Groban concert at the ESA (Energy Solutions Arena...I really wish it were still the Delta Center...so much easier to say)!!! It was such an awesome concert! We were lucky to be in a suite and we sat in the center, slightly to the right. The seats were great, there was dinner and treats, and a bathroom all in the suite! All things a pregnant girl like me could ever want! :) So I tried to take a picture and would have posted it here, but the flash was having issues, meaning we all looked like white ghosts! Which I probably look like right now with my office tan anyway, but you get the picture ;)

Anyway, it goes without saying that Josh Groban is EXTREMELY talented! His voice is absolutely amazing. But he also plays the piano and the drums and is pretty dang good at both of those too! Why is it that some people seem to get all the talent?! Anyway, he is only 26 which still amazes me and he was such a great entertainer. He was so funny and just a down-to-earth type of a guy. Go see him if you ever get a chance! You will not be sorry! And it also doesn't hurt that he happens to be pretty dang good looking too (yes, I am happily married, but I still have eyes!)!! That's the latest from me!

Hey guys how is everyone!! Holy Cow!! I cannot believe how busy everyone is traveling around and such!! Congrats on all of the graduations, weddings, babies and trips!! I am so happy for everyone and so glad that everyone is doing so well. We have just been hanging out, I have been busy with a few shoots, just enough to keep things interesting. Drew and I mostly play, here is one of our fun afternoons outside. We should hopefully be moving back into our house the first week in October. I can't wait!! This year has been crazy and hard and I can't wait to finally be settled and move on. Drew and I are always looking for buddies to play with, so give us a call if anyone is planning anything. I hope that no one feels like I am barging in on this blog. I know that I haven't been close to everyone for a few years, but I have always considered you guys friends. You don't know how many times I have looked up to each of you. Through out life I never really felt like I fit in anywhere, so I guess I just hopped around trying to find my spot and ended up being a home-body. I guess that's what I like most about having my own family. I know where I fit in. I am a wife and a mom, what I had always wanted to be.

WEDDING SHOWER

This is just a heads up for every one that checks the blog. There will be a double wedding shower for Megan and Ashlee Firth on September 8th at 10:30 AM. We are planning this a little early in the day so we don't take away from any ones plans for the afternoon or evening. We figured that with mostly everyone living in the Sandy/SLC area we will have the shower at Jacee's parents house. We will be sending out invitations soon. If your address has changed and you don't think that it has been updated on our friends list please send it to me. (Karlie) karlie@foundationsinsurance.com or just reply to the blog. Also reply if you will be able to make this date so we can get an idea of how many people will be there. Thanks so much hope to see you there!!!

The Barbecue

Thank you everyone for coming to the Barbecue. It was great to see everyone. I really have appreciated your friendship. I was thinking last night how amazing life is, how we all touch one another's lives and learn from each other. I truly feel blessed to have friends that I have known for so long. Here are some pictures! I will keep you updated (mostly on our blog)

Europe

Well...I'm finally posting about our Europe trip. I'm quite slow since we've been busy and Bryce steals our computer every night to work on his school project! We went to Europe for 16 days in July and had a blast! We started in Paris and went throughout France (Paris, Versailles, Marseilles, Cannes), Italy (Pisa, Florence, Venice), Austria, a bit of Germany (Munich) and Swizterland (and the tiny countries of Monacco and Lichtenstein)! Seeing the Eiffel Tower was probably the coolest for me since I've wanted to go there since I was a wee child. So it was exciting! My favorite place in France though was a little mountain called Mont St. Michelle. It was amazing. There's a church at the very top of the mountain and the base of the mountain is a little town with shops. When the tide is high it becomes an island (except the road leading into it).The most humbling places were D-Day beaches (the huge cemetery) and the concentration camp in Dachau. That is something I will never forget. It was just insane to see the pictures and movie of what happened there. We saw lots and lots of old churches (amazing architecture and art), museums (lots and lots of art) and definitely got a feel for the difference in culture. We went to Venice which was a crazy city...but very neat at the same time. No gondola ride...seeing that they cost a boatload! :) We just took the huge water taxi instead! (We also sweated like crazy in Venice...it was SUPER hot there.)
We stayed in Austria for a week and I loved it there. It was just small towns that were gorgeous. Fun houses with flowers on every balcony and very peaceful. It was quiet in summer but I can just imagine how hopping it gets in the winter with all the ski resorts. Switzerland was the most expensive place. Bryce got a big mac value meal and it cost him $10 for his alone!!!!! We felt quite lucky that we were able to go though. Bryce is now doing rotations until December so there will be no more trips for us (besides our 2 year anniversary...2 football games in 2 days!!!!!) :) Our house is about a month from being done and we are getting excited. I'll have to post a picture of that some other time though (once the front door is painted). Well it's always exciting to read about everyone's news and lives! I'm glad people are still posting and sharing everything! Hope everyone is doing great! :)
